Apologies for the problems which have been dogging Island Blogging over the last few days. It was as frustrating for us as it was for you I assure you!

The problems have been fixed and everything seems to be back to normal. All posts and comments submitted since late last Wednesday night should now be visible. If one of your entries hasn’t made it on to the site please email me at islandblogging@bbc.co.uk to let me know and I'll investigate.

Island Blogging is having a bit of a clear out ahead of Christmas. We’re shortly going to remove the blogs that haven’t been touched since the end of 2005 from the page.

The blogs will remain active so don't worry if yours is one of the affected ones. It’s just that it won’t appear in the list until you write a new post.

This is the first stage of some general tweaking which we’ll be carrying out over the next while to make the site more user friendly and a bit better looking!

Tonight’s edition of Coast focuses on the Outer Hebrides. Here’s the programme information ….

You might be interested in a new series called The Ferries of the Isles which starts on Monday on . Here are the programme details…

Fancy a listen? The Ferries of the Isles is broadcast on Monday at 1130. Don’t worry if you can’t tune in at the time, you can always catch it via the facility. The programme will be available there for seven days after transmission.

Just want to apologise for the delays which affected yesterday’s posts and comments. This was due to a couple of reasons: publishing delays (which affected numerous sites and not just IB) and some crucial maintenance work.

I know that it’s frustrating when Island Blogging doesn’t update regularly as it should. We are aware of the problems and are doing our best to solve them.

While I can’t tell you what your current password is (I’m not privy to that sort of information!) I can reset the password for you. But you’ll need to provide details of your member name for me to do this. I’ll then email you back with the new password details.

Unfortunately I can’t access details of your member name, so if it’s this which you’ve forgotten, the best bet is to create a new membership.

Phewee! You’ve been really busy over the weekend! I think that may have been the most number of posts and comments I’ve ever had to deal with. (You’re all obviously very organised and have done all your Christmas shopping already!) Welcome to all our new bloggers and welcome back to all those who’ve returned lately.

I saw a report recently which suggests . According to the analysts, most people who would ever start a blog have already done so. Well, we’ll see about that! In fact we’ll be visiting some islands in the springtime to encourage more of you to get involved. More information about that in the New Year.

Finally, did you notice that ? Aw, it’s nice to be appreciated…

Just to let you know about moderation arrangements over the festive period… Trusty colleagues will be looking after Island Blogging over the next wee while. There’ll be no moderation over weekends and public holidays, but there will be someone dipping in and out of the site on the 27th, 28th and 29th of December as well as the 3rd and the 4th of January. I’m back from my hols on the 5th when moderation will return to normal – no quips please Flying Cat! ;-)
