A letter from France

This is a message from Carol in France.

Hello to you all from a very rainy and thundery south of France.

As today is as it has been for the last ten days, just pelting down. I decided to look through loads of blogs on Island Blogging.

I just want to say a big thanks to all who write these blogs and who send lovely photos (Barney - please note I used the correct word). Looking at the photos brings back loads of happy (well, most of them) memories of my childhood growing up in "Bonnie Scotland". So keep the photos and the blogs coming.

Love to all,
Carol

Important - new Terms and Conditions

Hope you're all well and enjoying the fine weather.

Now for some serious business. The recently introduced Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 came into effect on 26 May this year.

This has implications for those involved in social media. In terms of Island Blogging specifically it bans the creation of fake blogs.

I don't imagine these are practices which any Island Blogger indulges in, and it might seem insulting to re-inforce that they are to be made illegal. However, just to make you aware that the law has changed, and that this unethical behaviour is now also illegal.

The new guidelines will be enforced by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) and administered by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).

The terms and conditions of use of this site have been amended accordingly - please read these.

Nice day for a white or Norwegian wedding

Letter from Dag in Norway.

"This Saturday, 28th of June, my daughter got married to a handsome man from Sandnes. I think Sandnes is also a common name for places on the islands in the UK.

I was walking her up the aisle. I was so afraid of falling or fainting, but it went very well. The bride was more calm than me.

Well, to tell you the truth we were pretty calm both of us. They said, yes (or as you would say "I do"), and the married couple walked out to the song, Kiss the Bride, by Elton John. I have been a fan ot Elton John for over 30 years, so my daughters have grown up with his music.

The party afterwards also went very well. Venison was on the menu. There were speeches, drinks and fun stuff. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves."
