The Future

Apologies to everyone who remains on tenterhooks about the projects future, we'll let you know as soon as we know more.

In the meantime we've been gatehring all the feedback from everyone and putting our case for Island Blogging to be extended and expanded. Here's some of the feedback we got. We asked what would you do to improve the website, here's some of the responses:

鈥淚鈥檇 open it up to other islands as well, and expand the FAQ to include an absolute Idiot Guide on adding webpage links, images etc.鈥

鈥淚鈥檇 like to see a piece on Island Blogging on 主播大秀 Scotland in one of their programmes, Eorpa, De a nis, Reporting Scotland etc to give an idea of what has been happening.鈥

鈥淨uicker updates, clearer interface, easier to log entrys鈥.

鈥淢ake it easier to put a picture on the blog鈥.

鈥淧erhaps make things a little more 鈥榣ive!鈥欌

鈥淢ake the site easier to use. Archive and searching.鈥

鈥淢akes blogs longer (words)鈥.

鈥淪olve technical problems.鈥

鈥淎dd video or gifs?鈥

鈥淜eep it the same, it鈥檚 great.鈥

Renewable Energy Debate

an extract form a keynote address by Duncan McLaren, Friends of the Earth:
" The threat of climate change and protection of the environment is beginning to drive change in the Scotland's energy industry. Within ten years, Scotland's old coal plants at Longannet and Cockenzie are likely to be closed or running at much reduced capacity. And within 20 years, nuclear power from Torness and Hunterston will be all but phased out. But what will replace this capacity in the future?

The next two decades are going to be critical if Scotland is to secure its future energy needs and tackle climate change. Barring any serious accidents, Scotland's nuclear and coal burning plants are likely to be with us for a few years to come yet. But sooner or later they will have to go. However, wondering what mix of energy sources will be powering Scotland then will be too late. We cannot just sit around until the lights go out, the debate and discussion needs to start now.

What we urgently have to consider is what will replace this capacity and how we will cut pollution but still keep Scotland's businesses running, our homes warm and people out of fuel poverty.

"Here in Scotland we have a window of opportunity, to be a world leader in the coming energy transformation. But we must start planning now to convert to a low energy, zero- carbon economy. We hope today's event is Scotland's first step on that road."

Blog Mod

Dear All, apologies to all for last weeks problems on Wednesday and Thursday with the server upgrade.

That's everything working smoothly again now. As for Pondhead's request to know when we update the website it鈥檚 as follows: twice daily Monday to Friday and only once on Sunday (ie every day bar Saturday).

We are hoping to make this twice EVERY day under our new set-up if we get the go-ahead.

thanks Mike

Longer Blogs

The Clean Slate just experienced frustration about her blog not working. Sound familiar? Just to reiterate an old point that blogs longer than 250 words won't work, you have to divide up your entries to two sections and post seperately.

Go to the for her alternative posting via her comments system.
