BEING HUMAN RECOMMISSIONED FOR SERIES TWO
New to BH? This post does not contain spoilers, but the comments might...
Ìý
Ring the bells!Ìý Strike up the band!Ìý Make a cake and for goodness sake get that champagne open!Ìý Because Being Human has officially been recommissioned and will be coming back for a second series!
Ìý
One big reason for the show coming back has been the fantastic reaction from you guys, the fans, for giving the show great viewing figures, making it the highest viewed show on iPlayer and making this website one of the most popular on the Ö÷²¥´óÐã.Ìý
Ìý
Pat on the backs all round, and I for one shall raise my glass to you *hic*.
Ìý
Danny Cohen, Controller Ö÷²¥´óÐã Three said "'I'm thrilled that we are re-commissioning Being Human. It's hugely popular with young viewers and earned great critical acclaim at the same time. It's also a very important staging-post in the successful development of home-grown young drama on Ö÷²¥´óÐã Three."
Ìý
Ben Stephenson, Controller Ö÷²¥´óÐã Drama Commissioning added:Ìý "I am very excited Being Human is returning for a second series. It's a distinctive modern series that has captured the imagination of the Ö÷²¥´óÐã Three audience in terms of strong viewer loyalty and critical acclaim, signalling a real breakthrough for drama on the channel."
Ìý
Rob Pursey, Executive Producer for Touchpaper Television says:Ìý "We already have some very exciting, very dark new stories up our sleeves, so we're delighted to have the opportunity to make a second series of Being Human.Ìý Ö÷²¥´óÐã Three has been a brilliant platform for us to mount an unusual and ambitious drama."
Ìý
So that's the reaction from the big bosses, but what do you guys think?Ìý Time for a party, yeah!?Ìý And don't miss a special message from Being Human creator Toby Whithouse on his next post here on the blog...Ìý Woo-hoo!
Ìý

It's so well written and acted. It manages to be Funny / Sad / Scary all at the same time. Even the SFX are great. I'm not ashamed to admit that it's had me laughing my head off one minute and then crying the next. Good job Ö÷²¥´óÐã. And good job all the people that have worked on this fantastic series. It is easily the best 'genre' show that the Ö÷²¥´óÐã has made (Doctor Who is great, Torchwood is OK, Merlin, well... hmmmm...). And it puts other UK programs (Demons, Primeval, etc.) to shame.
DigitalSpy says the show has been renewed for an eight episode 2nd season. Is that true? I hope so.
Amazing news. Now, when's the Season 1 DVD coming out? Play.com says it's out in April. I hope that's true! Please don't make us wait a year like they do for Spooks :-)

Well done - so I guess up to now it's staying on Ö÷²¥´óÐã3 rather than moving to mainstream telly? To be honest, it sort of suits the audience on there - I wouldn't want to spoil it in any way - it's just perfect as it is!

Consider this on a par with Life on Mars. taking a surreal angle and write with it as if it was true and normal. This one contains a great metaphor for real human needs and behaviour, and so far the writing has stayed true, maintaining both strands' Good job.

TV has been dumbed down so much and even the Ö÷²¥´óÐã, once respected for it's high standards, has succumbed to merely satifying the lowest common denominator and providing youth-obsessed, inane programmes. #18- I agree with one point. The age thing. I'm 27 and even now the only drama focused group I see are in their teens or early twenties. I sometimes feel like my age group and above have fallen off the planet. So this show has helped in that aspect. Why no one else has tried before or succeeded in mixing all age groups in one bbc drama is beyond me.

This probably has no chance of getting answered, but would anyone be able to tell me where Mitchell's purple baseball jacket is from? The writing is excellent - funny and still scary too. The characters are being allowed to develop and grow, especially Annie, and you really care about them. And what a great villain is Herrick? Really creepy. I'm 43 - so this is not just a drama for twenty somethings. The analogy with being alienated from society, not feeling you fit in and looking for people you can connect with is beyond just a fantasy drama. I'd love to find out how Mitchell and George met. Perhaps the Ö÷²¥´óÐã will put it on Ö÷²¥´óÐã2 - a lot of people don't have digital yet and are missing out.

I'm normally not much of a die hard sci-fi fan but what I love about this programme is the character match ups seems very odd but they're all likeable. And one of the best programmes on Ö÷²¥´óÐã3 I've seen in a while. :-)

I'm glad they've clarified what a younger audience is - it's nice to know 27 is young! Sorry all you 35+ s you've totally lucked out!

For those that remember, (and with apologies to "Not the nine o'clock news") I think the television licence fee is far too low. I would have willingly sold my house and all its contents to help the Ö÷²¥´óÐã to provide us with a second series of Being Human!

We all think its the best thing on tv and are over the moon we are going to get a second series. Russell Tovey is brilliant as George. He is a young man with a brilliant career ahead of him. Loving Lenora and Aiden too tho. Thanks bbc 3 for making sunday nights brilliant.

One thing though, it's a shame Gilbert was only there for one episode. He was great....don't suppose he'll be making a surprise come back?! ;-D

We need more than 8 episodes this time though. Come on Ö÷²¥´óÐã if you can make 13 episodes of "Merlin" you can do the same for Being Human (which is infinitely superior in my, perhaps biased, view . . . )
