New to BH? Watch out, this post contains spoilers from series one...

Ìý

Being Human creator Toby Whithouse is back to answer more of your queries.Ìý And this week it's all getting a bit odd...

Ìý

Here's an insight into my life. I have to answer questions like this...

Ìý

If George got Nina pregnant, would she give birth to little werewolves?

Ìý

But the frightening things is, I'VE THOUGHT ABOUT IT AND I ACTUALLY HAVE AN ANSWER.

No. Because when George is human, he's just human. If he got someone pregnant, then they'd just have a normal human baby.

Also, the other thing is, I make statements like that with a great air of authority, and then I think to myself "Hold on Whithouse. You're talking about WEREWOLVES." It's fair to say that the rules about these things are... open to interpretation. So when I say stuff like that, please bear in mind I'm talking about the werewolves, ghosts and vampires that exist in Being Human. They might be different to the ones in Salem's Lot, or the Sixth Sense or The Howling. I'm not the Supernatural Police. Though that is a cracking idea for a show and I thought of it first.

Ìý

The werewolf curse is spread through bites and scratches. Those scars on George's shoulder are the cuts he received when he was attacked by Tully all those years ago. It was Toby Haynes (director on episodes 1+2) who had the rather brilliant idea of having the scars still visible. That even after all this time, the supernatural element of the wounds mean they never truly heal. Much like Annie's clothes, they serve as a constant reminder of what happened. Something that won't go, that can't be changed.

Ìý

Speaking of curses being passed on, a few of you have been asking about how people become vampires.

Ok, let's take Lauren's conversion as an example. Mitchell will have attacked her and drank her blood. Then, as she lay dying, he will have cut himself and let his own vampire blood drip into her mouth.

If they don't do this, the victim simply dies. If they do, then it's just the beginning...

Anyway. Lauren will then have been declared dead.

Mitchell will have contacted the 'vampire authorities' (another cracking series idea... I am on FIRE today...), who will have very specific procedures for a situation like this. Seth, posing as an undertaker, will have claimed the body from the hospital.

A funeral will happen and a coffin will be placed in the ground or cremated or whatever. But it wouldn't have Lauren's body in it. Instead, that will be at the funeral parlour. There is a gap - maybe a few days, maybe a few hours - before the body comes back to life. Only now they are a vampire.

We saw it with Mitchell in the pre-titles sequence in episode one, where he woke on the pile of bodies. And again in episode 5 with the terminally ill man Herrick recruited at the hospital.

There is an unwritten rule that the vampire who recruited you should be there when you awake. And Lauren's principle complaint to Mitchell is that when she awoke, he was nowhere to be seen. He had, in fact, decided to renounce the vampire world by this point and left her to fend for herself in this new strange world.

Ìý

Ok, last one next week. Last episode, last blog.

Ìý

*bottom lip starts to tremble...*

''I'm not the Supernatural Police. Though that is a cracking idea for a show and I thought of it first.''

Laughed out loud at this; I can see how the brilliant one-liners in Being Human came about :-)

Don't talk about the end of the series [sob]

  • Comment number 2.

Hey toby, ha ha yeah spending your time musing about werewolf / nurse intercourse and the possible reproduction ramifications .. if you were to tell the local police station that they may say "ah in that case Mr Whithouse, we'll need another form" ;-D On the vampire thing - but how did the first vampire get created then? I may have missed it in the series, but has there been an explanation of how and in what epoch Herrick was recruited? I'd love to know of his past, what caused him to have such a twisted plan, is it a throwback to some psychological issues from his human life? Finally a plea - can you please write owen into series two as a vampire (I mean as long as its the current actor) - he has been superb especially in ep5!

  • Comment number 3.

Also, I posted this question on the last blog but may as well post it here -

Did/do you adapt the writing of the characters to suit the actors playing them? (mannerisms, expressions, delivery etc)

  • Comment number 4.

Yay thank you so much for answering my vampire question at last! It all makes sense now lol its very difficult with the supernatural - every tv show/film/book/internet site seems to have different ideas on how it would work but i quite like this version it certainly makes things interesting! :-) thank you again and please get cracking on series 2 we cant wait too long!

  • Comment number 5.

Btw, interesting to get your answer about whether Nina would get pregnant or not (as I was one of the strange folk who asked). It makes sense that when he is in human form, it couldn't happen.

  • Comment number 6.

    Hi ^_^

I just wanted to ask you about BH's vampire digestive system (lol) and the whole thing of "eating food".

Mitchell eats normal regular food; does it do anything for him? How does he survive (because the blood in BH is more of a drug than nourishment)? Because I'm assuming a vampire needs something to survive on, however you could have thrown that bit out and dictate that BH's vampires, once they are sired, don't need anything TOO survive on!

Also does he still have the hunger pangs that humans have? Or really does he eat it just to seem human?

And in episode 2, when Tully came out of the bathroom and Mitchell was going to go after him, does that mean a vampire's digestive system works? And vampires can use the bathroom's.... umm facilities (HAHA! xD)?

I know I know! Quite a few questions there, but these types of small insignificant quandaries are quite fascinating & frustrating...

I'm SURE you're already thought about it extensively xD!!

    Anyway thanks!

    ~Neverwinter

As the big finale approaches (I was going going to say "your big end nears" but it sounds a little dodgy...) I wanted to say thanks for an amazing series that's kept me completely hooked and loving every episode. The dark humour is stunning (oh, and a Sapphire and Steel reference! I *love* you!) and the horror and drama work so well together. Here's another voice calling for a series two, and you can have a pint on me should our paths ever cross...(Beer, bitter, cider, O-Neg...)

  • Comment number 8.

    *bottom lip trembles too*
Don't talk about the end of the series :(

Talk about how magic a second one would be ;) *wink wink* *nudge nudge*

I have a question for Toby was there a scene from the series that you've liked the most?

I personally loved Mitchell and George jumping into a lovers pose when trying to be descret XD

I loved the Mitchell through time montage also, was it easy trying to think of the "label" Mitchell would be through each decade or did it come naturally?

  • Comment number 9.

Ok first thank you so much :-) thanks for a brilliant series and keeping us up to date all the time with your blogs and evrything and pleaaaase dont stop just because the series has finished!! We'll need something to keep us occupied in between series's! :-(

Not really a question but a request lol... Could we please find out a bit more about Mitchells past - either on here or during the next series if it can fit in somewhere? I loved it when we met Josie and just had a little insight into his long life and reminded us how long hes been around and really sort of brought it home - the fact that he was going out with someone who is now becoming an old lady whilst hes well...frozen. It was really interesting i liked it - dont think i would otherwise have thought about it but now i keep thinking of things he might have done and human friends he might have had...

  • Comment number 10.

some one asked Mitchell what made him decide to turn his back on being a vamp? I thought you are probably be more the authority on the answer to that Q.

Why does Mitchell seem to have held onto his conscience & human side when in all of his vampy history we haven't seen other vampires behave like that, except maybe Lauren a bit.

  • Comment number 11.

Any plans to make a cameo appearance yourself in Series 2? Even if not, what type of character would you want to play if you did?

  • Comment number 12.

Apologies if you already have made a cameo appearance and I've just missed it...am not very observant!

  • Comment number 13.

Toby, don't really have anything constructive to add, but you are now on my guest list for my ultimate fantasy dinner party.

  • Comment number 14.

still no news on whether or not were going to get a second series!! Mr Whithouse you do not play fair!!! i askd very nicely last week and everything!

  • Comment number 15.

and that was a lot of exclamation marks, sorry everyone just so desperate to know

  • Comment number 16.

Why does this have to be your last blog??? Can't you keep us posted on any updates for series 2? Hints and stuff like that and I'm sure we will still have plenty of questions to ask. Please!

  • Comment number 17.

Wow, thanks for that Toby. That issue of how a vampire is made and what happens has been giving me sleepless nights (is that really sad?!), but glad you've cleared that up for us. Guess that's where all the vampire keyworkers become rewally important, like the hospital workers, and funeral directors.

I sometimes think we fans over-analyse things, but it's nice to know you have actually thought about all these strange questions we pose. lol

  • Comment number 18.

What about the whole werewolf biting a vampire thang (fang) or vice versa. What would happen? Or if Nina was pregnant and scratched by George the werewolf. What would happen to the unborn babies in the womb every full moon? So many questions. Toby you are just going having to do another series or a feature length film to answer these questions. You are now duty bound to the growing mountain of fans of the show. Good man yourself, fair play to ye for this top quality show.

  • Comment number 19.

I agree with what the others said we need the blog updates, It will feed our addiction till season two starts! :)

  • Comment number 20.

Toe-Bee, congrats on the re-comissioning, I'm so happy, I just went to digital spy and it's on the front page, it's a testement to your writing that the Beeb has done this, congratulations again... WOO!!! Koy xx.

  • Comment number 21.

    C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S on the recommissioning and thank you for the GREAT show.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE let the cast interviews be viewable in the states. It’s absolute torture not being able to view some of the awesome content that the lucky folks in the UK can enjoy.

To quote a very wise American, Ö÷²¥´óÐãr J. Simpson. . . "But we Americans are England's children! I know we don't call as often as we should, and we aren't as well behaved as our goody-two shoes brother, Canada. Who by the way has never had a girlfriend. I'm just sayin'."

Show us some pity. . . we just endured 8 years of Bush.

  • Comment number 22.

What if(ok I'm clutching at straws here, be patient)
It was more like what happened in(oh God, I can't believe I'm referencing this) 10th Kingdom. That if they did metaphorically and fictionally settle down and had cubs of their own, the reaction to the moon that the cubs would have would not be as severe as George endures. It would be more like how Wolf endured it in 10K(again, cannot believe I referenced that programme)

  • Comment number 23.

Ahem, Toby, you forgot what happened in the movie 'Cursed'.
One of the characters remarks in that film in relation to what you said above
'I guess there's no such thing as safe sex with a werewolf.'

  • Comment number 24.

I agree with brizzle_fin, some background on Herrick would be fantastic (assuming we don't get it on sat/sun). And maybe Seth, too? I miss him already, the sneaky little creep :(

Also, YES, please keep Owen on! He could be Herrick's new right hand man.

    Although he'll never be Seth.

...yeah, it might take me a while to forgive you for killing him off.

  • Comment number 25.

Ack, forgot - Congratulations on the second series!

  • Comment number 26.

So happy to hear there's going to be a second series - congratulations, very well deserved!

  • Comment number 27.

I'd love to see a flashback to when George first became a werewolf too, and what actually happened! Because as far as George was concerned, he survived a hrrofic animal attack, and the next full moon would have been one h_ll of a surprise!

  • Comment number 28.

    Can I ask about music?

You have excellent people to advise on the perfect track for a specific scene and some stunning new music made up but how much of it is your idea from a much loved track or a last minute crew decision?

Have you ever written a scene AFTER knowing the track you wanted to incorporate?

  • Comment number 29.

I'd like to know a bit about the process of filming Being Human actually - I mean you obviously don't film the scenes in the order we see them, so what was the first and last scenes that were filmed - I guess that's one for the cast or the directors, but maybe you can help.

One thing you could answer though is whether you have a history/background written for each character, or whether the character's past sort of evolves as you're writing (does that make any sense?).

Also, do you know how you want the characters to end up ultimately, or again is this just a process of natural evolution?

  • Comment number 30.

Enjoy the prog. Toby...A great book about the history/myth/superstition of lycanthropy is :
The Book of Werewolves-Sabine Baring-Gould...have you read it ?
S.B.G is also the composer of Onward Christian Soldiers...

  • Comment number 31.

Just wanted to say congratulations on the second series we are all so happy for you and the team and its very very well deserved its so brilliant!!

Apparently it was sort of down to us and how much we loved it...just a tiny little bit lol sooooooooooo perhaps a little "thanks for all the support" day on the set? :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D we'll make the tea......

  • Comment number 32.

OK I'd like to know if the markings on Tully's chest were a star (of David) and deliberate or the actors own erm.. markings/tattoos.

  • Comment number 33.

Ok I feel I need to sell the idea a bit better so here goes lol .... 3 of us lovely fan type people come down to the set for a day armed with a video camera we wont exactly get let loose to cause chaos and distract the actors (we wouldnt we promise!) but we could film different aspects of the making of the show a bit of behind the scenes maybe trailing different people for a bit - make up, costume, special effects, etc etc and then maybe a tiny short interview with the cast/crew (with questions people could put up on here like they have done for aidan and russell) and then put it all in some lovely little films to be put up here on the website :-D - you've been brilliant giving the fans what they want this series and i reckon this would be a really good idea for series 2 - even if you dont pick me :-( (but if you decide to go with the idea i hope you do!) A film by the fans, for the fans - Go on you know you want to...

  • Comment number 34.

Oh and we'd still make the tea if you like :-)

  • Comment number 35.

    Great idea eagle eyes!
We would all love to watch that.
I wouldn't be involved because I'm c*** at making tea apparently. I make a wicked black Russian though.

  • Comment number 36.

Lol Yay - i know i would love to watch it even though id be very jealous if i didnt get to go lol not quite sure how theyd decide maybe a competition or something? although then id never win im not at all lucky at competitions lol but like i said even if you werent in it yourself itd be a great thing to watch wouldnt it? :-D

And oh - im not so great at the tea making either but shh i thought it might be a deal breaker ;-)

  • Comment number 37.

What in the world is a ''black Russian''?? lol. Please enlighten me... somebody.

  • Comment number 38.

Oh yeah, and I wholly support the idea of a ''day on the set'' (naturally) for a few lucky fans, in fact, I was thinking of proposing the idea of a competition for a few fans to win a day around the set, guess eagle_eyes4 beat me to the punch lol. Great idea nontheless. xx

  • Comment number 39.

    #37-

Don't listen to that though. If it hasn't got a cherry added I'm not interested.

  • Comment number 40.

Thanks superOchre, should've known, it has stereo typically vodka-esque name lmao. I should recommend it to my friends (I don't drink... I'm crazy enough anyway). xx

P.S. I will definitely pass on the cherry tip aswell. lol.

  • Comment number 41.

I want to ask a similar questio nto No.6 You've stated that blood is more of an addiction to vampires rather then a need but do the vampires get any bennifits (eg get stronger) as a result of drinking blood & how come older vampires like mitchell can cope with going cold turkey better than younger vampires like lauren?

  • Comment number 42.

re 32. Tully has lots of tats all over his neck back and one by his thumb all of differen symbols, which are a bit witchy and pagan looking; including a cross and a pi sign, some weird joker/devil figure - I reckon the star on the front is more likely to be a pentagram?

  • Comment number 43.

Yes i was wondering that too - if it makes them stronger it would make sense and i think it would be quite a good angle to go with but then Mitchell seems as strong as any of the others so im not sure - i like that question :-) just re watching ep 5 on iplayer the mitchell and josie scene is currently one of my favourites i think - its great to see more of mitchells past :-)

  • Comment number 44.

oh suzi- yeah that's what the other site said or you on another site said.
i was only looking at the dressing gown scene. whose is that anyway? can't be mitch or georges surely?

  • Comment number 45.

    Hi Toby

I'm definitely not in the Ö÷²¥´óÐã 3 target demographic (too old) but I'm really enjoying Being Human anyway - thank you for a great series! My question is about the vampires. If you become a vampire, do you lose your immortal soul - your ability to 'go on' somewhere else to another plane, even if it holds nothing particuarly good or positive? I was wondering about this because of the difference between the way Lauren 'died' (disintegrating and mingling with the wind), and Annie and Gilbert's supernatural doors out of the mortal world altogether.

Thanks again Toby, and I'm looking forward to series 2 with a keen sense of anticipation!

  • Comment number 46.

Toby if you are reading the comments section, I am in awe of your writing ability. Being Human has been fantastic, and I have been blogging rather incoherently about it this week. Will be blogging Sunday's episode too and am delighted you've got a new series. I love fantasy/horror and think the blending of the two and the great humour in the series is fantastic. (Oh and I ADORE George).
All your fans aren't 20 something by the way - my husband and I are in our 40s and love the show. Also had total squeeing mad moment with a yummy mummy friend in the playground the other day as to how good episode 5 was. Am sadly restraining my 12/10 year olds from watching as its a bit grown up for them, but I think they'd love it too...

  • Comment number 47.

Ok Toby i'll apologize in advance for the long post but if you're only going to do one more blog then i need to get all my questions out now :-( ok here goes...

    1) you've done a great job of explaining the vampire thing and thank you but one thing im now wondering about - the people who weren't dying in hospital - lauren for example mitchell just caught her well erm off guard if you like :-) so what happens to her body? surely the family would want to see the body they usually do - they have to give her the blood before she actually dies so would they see the body quickly before she woke up? they never know how long until they wake up so what if she suddenly sits bolt upright when her family are there? Sorry that may just be like asking why doctor who didnt just run upstairs when he saw the daleks (old ones obviously not these new fangled flying daleks!) but if you have managed to figure it out in your head id be intersted to hear :-D

    2) How do you go about writing the show? Have you had an idea about where you want the characters to go and what happens right from the start or has it just developed over time? It must be hard not knowing how may series' you're going to be able to do to plan for the characters' future? And is series 2 written already? If so have you written all of them or someone else

    3) Ok lastly and sort of my most important one (to me anyway!) What advice would you give to someone who wanted to work in television? Everyone always says start at the bottom which is fine by me but what is the bottom? what is the best way to get your foot in the door if you like :-) Ive always been interested in it and for years it was what i wanted to do but when it came to leaving school i told myself it was just a dream and completely bottled it to go into something i thought was more secure. Is it too late now - do you need a degree for every aspect or can you actually work your way up from the bottom? :-) sorry i know that is probably a really boring question for the fans but thought You'd be one of the best people to ask....

    Thanks a lot Toby :-D

  • Comment number 48.

Ive always thought about working in TV too - hence why I studied costume design at uni.
But then you get a boring job in the real world and you forget.

It's only when you watch programmes like this and the blogs that give you little insights into all the workings of the show and how much fun they all have together and how good it must feel to have created something so exciting and new that your passion gets re-ignited!

  • Comment number 49.

Im not toby but heres my thoughts anywho - Writing to companies doing work experience? one way to start.

Put yourself down for being an extra, then you can bug the camera man, make up artist etc & ask them a few Qs how they got started.

degrees are only three yeas long and you could always do a year or 6 month course in things like 3D or stage make up. you could gain some experience working in theatres?

    also look on the tinterweb

  • Comment number 50.

Thanks suzi :-) I know what you mean though thats what happened to me i got pressured into doing a "proper job" lol a normal one something stable but im starting to think now well why not? You only live once it must feel great to know youve been part of something big even if it was just picking out the blue m and m's for fussy actors lol :-D still dunno what id actually like to do though thats why i dont want to do a degree right away cos knowing me id do it then get myself a job and realise that actually i like the look of something else better... :-)

  • Comment number 51.

Any scope to bring Gilbert/Annie (is she goes eventually) as an angel?

  • Comment number 52.

Also, I'm not liking this 'sticks and ropes' stuff - can that just be for bad guys/in between death and passing over please? Can we have something nice like Gilbert meeting Annie if and when she eventually goes?

  • Comment number 53.

Also, (sorry, am having a bit a BH-mad moment and making loads of posts) we don't know much about family of The Three. Any plans to cover this later on? I only ask because I find it hard to believe that they could all cut their ties from their families completely - surely they would, at least, want to keep an eye on them from afar?

  • Comment number 54.

Oooh yeah that would be good -for example - Mitchell could save some girl from being turned or be about to turn some bloke only to discover they are his great great great niece/nephew. scope for all sorts of exciting stories.

  • Comment number 55.

Hmmm we know about Vampires with vampires & George and Nina, but can Mitchell have babies with a human? would they be half vampire ones.

As George stated 'you buy a bottle of wine and a packet of condoms!'
So Mitchell wears condoms when he has sex - WHY?partly cause the bbc would want to promote safe sex.

But Mitchell can't get diseases, nor does he have any to give. So why wear them if its not to protect from baby making? Hmm maybe just not to arouse suspicion with the girl he is with maybe?

  • Comment number 56.

Eagle eyes4 - you ever read Alice in Wonderland/Through the looking Glass.

Alice comes to a cross roads in the path and asks the cheshire cat 'There's so many, which way do I go?'
Chehire cat says 'Where are you trying to get to?'
Alice replies 'Well I don't really know.'
Cat says 'Then it doesn't matter which path you take.'

Point is you wont know if something is a right or wrong decision until you just make one & go with it for a while other wise you'l just be stuck in the same place forever.

Enough preaching and interfearing from me now. Il shut up

  • Comment number 57.

Its not preaching or interfering lol thanks :-)

And as for Mitchell having babies - sorry but he cant lol vampires are dead so theres nothing, well alive in them lol tried to put that as nicely and as cleanly as possible :-) and as for the condoms thing - well in episode 5 that guy herrick gets from the hospital had aids related something or other so if mitchell drank his blood im not sure if it'd pass into his own bloodstram or not but just because he cant get diseases doesnt mean he couldnt carry them i guess hmm...

  • Comment number 58.

Or it could just be to make himself look normal or maybe he doesnt - i dont see why george would know lol he could just have assumed - just said it because it made his point

  • Comment number 59.

Umm, so no prizes for being quick of the mark here (apparently I suck at both sports AND sport metaphors) but as Annie gets more confident we've seen her leave the house more. Could she ever reach a point where she felt no pull to return to the house, or had a virtually limitless roam-zone?

I love this series. Only wish I could have written it first. Thanks!

  • Comment number 60.

Ok Toby having just watched ep 6 have more vampire questions!!!

Mitchell says his body cant make new blood...George (or possibly annie?) also says they are pumping him full of new blood - so does this mean that mitchell had no blood in his body at all? if so how come he cut his arm for lauren and they were feeding from each other etc? Or is this an unanswerable again? do i have to just accept it has no answer it just has to work for the show to work? thank you and i really dont know how im going to wait for series 2 its going to be torture!

  • Comment number 61.

...so are they going to have to be separated every full moon now, to avoid werepuppies? Because you said "when George is HUMAN"...

  • Comment number 62.

Yeah what would happen lol it looks as though he calms down because he recognizes she is one of them so could they be ok together? in episode 2 george tells tully that theyll tear each other apart? it seems as though whatever is in his path he will destroy but that doesnt explain nina? maybe love really did win through although this seems a bit too cushy and quite unlikely hmmm odd lol im sure someone will work it out :-)

  • Comment number 63.

    Not a question.
I want to say a huge "thank you" to everyone connected with the making of this programme. Everyone from names I know to anonymous people.
Clearly there are a lot of very skilled and talented people involved and I want you all to know that you have given me an enormous amount of pleasure.
A wonderful idea, wonderfully executed by everyone.
    Massive thanks

  • Comment number 64.

This has been such a spectacular series and i'm so thankful it has been commissioned for a second! But for now i'm tensely waiting for the explosive series finale!
If there was one other supernatural creature you were to introduce into 'Being Human', what would it be?
Thanks Toby! Keep up the good work!

  • Comment number 65.

Great news about series 2 :-)

Do you have an arc in mind for the three characters?
I have been watching another TV show which recently finished airing after ten years, do you have any plans in mind for BH to run so long?
There might be other characters our three become mentors to in the future?
Lots left to learn about their conditions! I'd be interested to see what is supposed to be normality after reaching acceptance, or is denial constantly returning when something terrible happens eg losing someone they become emotionally attached to?
The more we find out about the characters it only makes me even *more* curious about them ;-)

Do you have any particular inspirations for your writing choices (decisions you made in creating the conditions and characters)? I was guessing you have a love of comedy and horror because how the two mix in BH.

If the show could have conventions organised for fans to attend would you or any of the crew consider attending as guests? What usually happens is a QA session on stage; fans ask qus about the show and the guest can decide if they want to answer or not. Sometimes an autograph session as well, could be problem for writers because cramp from signing pics (I'd like to purchase promo pics if anyone makes some).
I'm guessing location would be in London, I have been to cons in the eXceL centre before, if that helps hint location? A really fun choice would be Bristol so fans could converge on the town and look for locations used in filming the show!

Nice ending, with a few tags for the coming next series.

So George's girl is a werewolf too eh. Good, what a great time they'll have together. What fun.

Seriously though this has been a very good series. Look forward to how on earth they'll follow it. With optimism.

Just a huge thankyou for a fantastic series. My sister and I are hooked and we are over 35 so it does appeal to a more mature audience!
I love the characters and its all down to the great acting. The three stars really gel together and you feel like you could be friends with them! I love the comedy blended with the darkness. Herrick was a fab character but if Owen became a vamp? Ooo sheer evil...Loved the end with Nina looking at her arm,George is going to be devastated.Try and get Gilbert back, he was a fab character, but then its all 80's for me!!

Oh and also does mitchell need to breathe? if it was real would he? obviously you cant tell aidan not to breathe for all of his scenes lol but just wondering and the blood thing about whether he actually has blood in his veins? does the blood he drinks somehow become his? i guess not because then he would actually need it - it wouldnt just be an addiction but he bled a lot when he was stabbed and cut his arm for lauren so he must have blood? but how come he didnt have a heartbeat - is the blood just still in his body? and also the food? does mitchell need to eat? obviously he couldnt die of starvation but he feel hunger? or lose weight? or is it a case of just wanting to be human?

Please answer these otherwise itll be going round my head for the next year or however long until s2! - even if you just say you dont know lol

Oh and on a lighter note - can we have more of the sarcastic vicar i think he was brilliant :-)

ps. apologies if you have already read these questions but my posts keep getting deleted and i dont know why :-( so wanted to make sure you got them otherwise it will be bugging me for ages lol

Oh and also another important vampire one - obviously drinking blood makes them stronger - because of the whole josie thing (very very sad by the way that and laurens death were the only 2 bits that made me cry! and i dont cry at anything :-() so the question - if mitchell did give up what would happen? would he just die? just fade away? or wouldnt it affect him as long as he didnt get hurt? or did he just need josies blood to replace what he lost because the banked blood obviously didnt work? that kinda links with the above question - sorry for the long posts just need to get them all out for the last blog!!

Out of interest, have you read Darren Shan's Cirque du Freak onwards? I think you've both pulled off vampires pretty well in a modern atmosphere.

There are some good parallels you've brought up in Being Human, particularly the "blood thirst" being metaphorical of drug addiction, and the idea of vampirism being spread through blood transmission - perhaps provoking the idea of STD's?

My main question is, are you going to explore any other modern themes through George and Annie? I got the impression Annie represented domestic violence to a degree, but I can't quite place what George represents. Maybe he's the one showcasing STD's through being a werewolf?

Hi - firstly thank you for a fascinating series. Can't wait for the next one.

OSully101 mentioned metaphors and all along I have felt there were many layers to the series. I'd like to hear other views on possible subplots. Personally I think there is a line to do with the "dark" side of being human and having to overcome these human flaws, i.e. the vampires represent addiction (drugs, alcohol), Annie represents physical and mental abuse (nicely justifying her abuser's own final fate), and George - well I am torn - I first thought it was to do with child abuse, probably sexual, with his werewolf tendancies representing his latent natural but repressed sexuality, but now wonder if it is more to do with having HIV and the shame associated with it. I think there are many others layers too but don't want this to become an essay! Is this totally off the wall or does anyone have any other ideas?

Interested in seeing Being Human in Los Angeles.

BTW, your werewolf films for reference are...ok, but for people wanting to see the VERY BEST-IMHO-werewolf films of all time, here is MY list!

1-The Wolf Man-1941 Universal film-an amazing film that has it all-great music, acting, and story!
Being remade now for November release with a HUGE budget and GREAT makeup true to the original-but scarier- by Rick Baker!

2-The Curse of The Werewolf-1960 British hammer film-1st color SCARY werewolf!-and a brilliant film!

3-The Howling-great fx! The original and ONLY one worth watching!

4-The Werewolf of London-first one and quite creepy!

    5-Van Helsing-did have 3 different werewolves...good CG...but xformation WAY too short!

There are others like Dog Soldiers that were pretty cool, & Wolf, but those are STILL the best, scariest, and ones worth watching...

PS What does a werewolf call a vampire? Lunch!

    Cheers,

    Ira

    Hey Toby,
I'm afraid the idea of supernatural police is already done, and done well. The American show 'Supernatural' is about two brothers who hunt down supernatural predators and it is really good, not as good at BH though :)

Hi Toby, I know this might sound a bit cliche, but what about a slayer of some type? Has that particular character (which has be known to surface..)been consider for up coming series?

    Inquiring minds want to know....
