My question for Russell is this: What would your perfect day involve? Thanks! Respect to Squeaky!George

  • Comment number 2.

WOW, can't believe I'm second anyway, Hi Russell, My name is Koy and I just want to say that I am a massive fan and I don't know if you have checked your IMDB page before but, I am the one that posted you a Happy Birthday message on there, hope all is well in Tovey-Land and I hopefully (if my mum forks over the cash lol) coming to see you in ''A Miracle'' with some of my friends. Anyway, to the question:

Do you like the science-fiction genre? And if so, what is/are your favourite/s television shows, films, books (please don't say Twilight lmao). Thanks so much and you are a ledge!!! XX Koy.

    QUESTION FOR RUSSELL TOVEY
why did Seth back away from the star of david?

if the Author has keped to the werewolf and vampire story he should know.

As i said befor my family comes from romania.
In the part of romania where my family comes from werewolf and vampire storys are ten a penny.

one of them gose like this
a werewolf sees in the laft hand parm of his next victim the star of david and if a vampire shouls see the star of david on a werewolf then the vampire is turnd to stone.

    did russell know that?

Oh yeah, and by the way (not that anybody is remotely interested lol) but, had a Psychology A-Level mock today... double eughhhh. WOO!!! only 10 months 'till Christmas, better start dusting off the baubles... Koy

  • Comment number 5.

    Hey,
What are the best and the worst aspects of working on this series?

    Thanks,
    Bekki x

  • Comment number 6.

are the make up effects as uncomfortable as they look ?

  • Comment number 7.

You have to play a lot of different emotions as George - scared of his power as a werewolf, his falling-in-love with Nina, some brilliant comic moments with Annie - so, for you, which emotion(s) are the hardest to portray on screen, and why?

  • Comment number 8.

I think someone else may have already asked this question on the other blog, but I wanted to know, as the only remaining actor of the three main characters from the pilot, how easy was it for you to strike up the relationship with the new Annie and Mitchell, and what do you think has changed from the original pilot in the way the characters interact.

I haven't actually watched the pilot yet - am saving it for when the series end and I need my fix before the DVD comes out!

Also, George is Jewish - how do you think that helps him deal with his affliction?

    Thanks - grand job!

  • Comment number 9.

    Hi!
I just wanted to ask how much preperation did you have to do before you were able to do the transformation scenes & have you been surprised by the success of the series?
    Cheers

  • Comment number 10.

I asked the same question to Aidan but I'm curious to know what Russell thinks as well.
How does he think the friendship between George and Mitchell will change?

  • Comment number 11.

To any of the cast -

Do you ever ad-lib/improvise to get a different reaction from the other actors? Do you ever make suggestions to the writers/directors/team about your character and the scenes you are in?

  • Comment number 12.

Further to my previous question -

Do you feel like you have a chemistry whereby, if you do make a change, the others will instantly know where you're going with it and respond in a more natural way?

Also (and I think someone may have already asked this) -

Are there any similarities between the characters you portray and yourselves, or are you totally different? If you yourself could give George, Annie or Mitchell (or, indeed, any of the other characters) any advice, what would it be?

  • Comment number 13.

Oh, sorry, also to any of the cast -

Do you watch the series yourself or do you prefer not to see yourselves on screen?

If you do watch, is it a surprise/joy to see the finished article (given that, even if you read the whole script, you may not watch the scenes as they are filmed etc)? And are you shouting at the screen/speechless/jaw on floor/biting nails/laughing out loud etc like us?

  • Comment number 14.

Russel - what was your initial reaction when you heard about the cast change? Did you feel there were any swignificant differences in George's relationship with the old and new cast?

  • Comment number 15.

George has quite a few one liners or is the butt of everyones jokes. just want to ask are you as naturly funny in really life or are you just the opersite?

Also congrates to a great show its been a real pleasure to watch you of the last six weeks and i also agree with nina you do have a really nice bum!!!!

  • Comment number 16.

    Hi Russell

Just a quick one for ya

If you has the chance to download anything to your brain (like in the Matrix) what would it be and why?

    Odette xx

  • Comment number 17.

    *SQUEALS*
    ehem.

You've mentioned in a few interviews that you'd like to play darker, less likable characters. Is there an existing villain in film or literature that has made you think, "If that ever gets remade or adapted, I'm definitely going up for it?"

  • Comment number 18.

Are you fed up of being naked all the time?
Do you ever think surely it's got to be someone elses turn to freeze their arse off in the woods? Or are you just a complete exhibitionist?

  • Comment number 19.

    Hey :)

    1. Can my mum adopt you i want you as my big brother :)
    2. Do you like being the warewolf or would you of prefered (no idea how to spell that lol) to be the Vampire?
3.You have been in loads of tv and theatre, but what do you prefer?

    Thanks darling :) xxxxx

  • Comment number 20.

How come only Seth reacted to the star of david but Mitchell doesnt? and do werewolves age?

  • Comment number 21.

    Questions for Russell:

    1. If you could change into any animal what would it be and why?

    2. Do you have any theories as to the origin of Nina's mysterious scars (on her tummy?) Do you think she's been involved with the Supernatural before (hence why she said Mitchell was "not her type anymore")?

    3. Would you like to do another series of Being Human and do you think it should run for longer than 6 episodes this time?

    4. (and just for fun:) Did you know that you have a double?! (my ex-husband. You and he look startingly alike, I did a double take when I first saw you on TV, lol!)

  • Comment number 22.

Do you have any secret talents, apart from acting? Origami? Being able to answer more than 10 questions on an episode of University challenge?

Do people who recognise you from being human shout phrases at you ie. 'Who wants some of my chair?'

  • Comment number 23.

If you could chose to have a part of Georges character in real life, would you chose being multi lingual with an IQ of over 150, or the ability to be a werewolf?

  • Comment number 24.

first thing wow! like the pic used it so coolany way let me get on with this.

1)if any of the being human charcters (i.e george, mitchell, annie) could be your friend which one would it be?

    2) which of the episodes was your favroite to act in?

3)(i know i put this on the other blog but i'm going to write it again just in case) if you could be any fantasy creature (i.e vampire, werewolf, ghost, fairy) what would you be?

and last one if you had the chance would you become a werewolf? i had to ask as werewolves are my favroite they are so cool, but i bet i sound like a freak now so bye :)

  • Comment number 25.

Not as many questions for Russell as he has done quite a lot fo interview that ive seen whereas Aidan hasnt really :-( But just wanted to show my support and hope you will tell him that we all think hes realy talented and hilarious :-)

    So Russell...

    1) Ive said a lot of times on this site that i hope you do more comedy after Being Human so just want to ask is this something you want to do? I love comedy and i think the comedy world cant afford to lose you - you just have the lot the facial expressions the body language the timing, the list goes on! anyway i really hope you do!

  • Comment number 26.

Does everyone get along off set and has anyone said or done something particually memorable?

  • Comment number 27.

Somebodys probably asked this but :

Was it tough for you to act naked and/or did you find it difficult/akward preparing for that and the sex scenes with Nina?

What's your favourite room in the house? Why?

The music is a really great part of the show, is they're a particular song that reminds you of George?

As the only one from the original pilot how did you find the change in cast?

  • Comment number 28.

    Hello Russell,

We know very little about George's background, or the life he had to leave behind.

Did you create an imagined past for him in order to understand him better?

I'd also like to know whether the completed show is different from what you imagined it would be like when you were filming?

    Thank you very much.

  • Comment number 29.

Hey Russell- thanks for answering whichever questions you get asked, and also for being such an important part of the fantastically great series that is 'Being Human'! George is such a wonderfully sweet, hilarious character, and I think it's safe to say we all love him very much!

    Right then, question time...

    1) Would you describe yourself as an ardent sci-fi/fantasy fan...or not?

    2) What has been the most challenging job of your career so far?

    3) What will be your abiding memory of filming the first full series of 'Being Human'?

    4) Which character, out of George, Mitchell and Annie, would you personally get on with the best? Why?

    5) What would you like to see George achieve in Series Two? *fingers crossed* Do you think he'll ever move on from working at the hospital?

    6) This could be read two ways...does much corpsing go on between you, Aidan and Lenora? And how about the rest of the cast in general?

    7) And one more thing- I thought you were excellent in Little Dorrit, Doctor Who and The History Boys, Russell. You're a very talented actor- have you always wanted to act, or did you have other ambitions as a youngster?

Thanks Barry- I take it this is all your design, Mr Online Editor!- for this brill opportunity, again!

  • Comment number 30.

    Russell,
My friend and I were wondering whether you're always as quick as George to work yourself into hysterics, i.e. squealing a bit. (It's not a bad thing! We actually find it quite endearing and sort of hope the answer to our question is 'yes'!)

Thank you for your time and your wonderful contribution to the show and we hope the sun's shining where you are. (If it's not, the sentiment of goodwill still stands. It's just less sunny.)

    Kind regards,

    Rosie and Seki xx

  • Comment number 31.

Russell-the term going around the net when we talk about George is 'adorkable', how do you manage to get george to be so geeky and yet so damn adorable??

also, whats your inspiration behind how you play george?

    ta muchly sir!

  • Comment number 32.

Hi Russell, great job - you are a joy to watch and your comic lines are entering into the stuff of legend :-) The scene were you got jiggy with Nina in the storeroom - how many takes were required? I can imagine you must both have been wetting yourselves trying to act that out!

  • Comment number 33.

Hi Russell, I asked a couple of questions on the other thread.

How much do the yellow contacts hurt?

Have they let you keep the teeth?

Now I must go away to think of intelligent and insightful (and not inappropriate and stalkery) things to ask.......(I may be a while)

  • Comment number 34.

Hi russell if in a second series george turned someone into a werewolf how do you think he would deal with it and would he look after them?

  • Comment number 35.

Well ill start of by saying i love Russell, he's amazing and George is my favourite character and the best werewolf ive seen on screen ever! My question is: What were your thoughts on the series when you first signed up?
Thanks a lot, keep up the great work!!!

  • Comment number 36.

Most of my questions that i posted before apply to all the cast so if Being Human production could just ask him them then that would be great.
My brain's really not working today so I'm struggling to think of any more to ask him, especially ones that haven't already been asked, but i don't want to waste this opportunity so here it goes:

    Questions for Russell:
Is there a question that interviewers have never asked you before that you want them to ask you and if so what is your answer to it?

Okay that was just a cop out because i couldn't think of my own, but still might be interesting to hear your answer.

Just thought of one, in your opinion, would George ever have children with Nina or would he be too scared he might accidently turn them into a werewolf?

Also as said before any funny stories and anecdotes about filming and fellow cast would be much appreciated

    Thanks

  • Comment number 37.

Also same Qs as before but Id like to know Russells & Lenora's answers too.

If you could write your own role for the second series (please let there be one) - what sort of exciting experiences would like to have in store for your character.

Is there any scenes you would hate to do?

If you could nick a prop from the set as a momento, what would you take?

Do you have any geeky shameful secrets?

And just to Russell - what did you honestly think of the orange shirt you tried on before your 'Not a date' with Nina?
    I actually liked it.

  • Comment number 38.

    Hi Russell,

I was wondering if you're regularly allowed to request changes or introduce ideas into an episode, or about your character and, if so, if you might share an example of that?

    -or-

The supernatural conditions of Mitchell and Annie seem as though they partially parallel the real world issues of addiction and agoraphobia/self esteem. Do you see George's lycanthropy as symbolism in a similar manner?

  • Comment number 39.

Well I'll try and overcome the *squeeeee* moment, and write something sensible.

    1. Can you see Nina and George's relationship lasting? I think they're cute together.

    2. As we've seen, George is impressively multi-lingual; can you speak any other languages?

    3. What were your favourite subjects at school and did you always want to be an actor?

    Romy :-)

  • Comment number 40.

This post is on behalf of my friend KC who's having terrible trouble with the Being Human website:

Hi Russell. You're just an amazing actor, going from strength to strength in every new thing I see you in! Keep up the great work, hunny!

** What drew you to wanting to work on "Being Human" and was George your first choice of character?

** Is there any other role that you would like to play if you weren't George?

** Russell, you were one of the original "History Boys" on both on stage and screen so given a choice, which do you prefer? Working live on stage or pre-recorded in TV and films?

** Are George's hilarious and terrifying range of squeaks, squeals and (particularly during the transformation) growls your own invention for the role or part of the script/direction? Are the sounds difficult for you to perform?

** Are there any actors, actresses or directors who you've not yet worked with that you'd really like to?

** To the entire cast: If any other supernatural beings were to make an appearance in "Being Human", would there be a particular one that you'd like to see?

Huge thankyous to your good self, Aidan (sorry, I missed being able to ask you questions, Aidan) and Lenora for being so kind as to answer our questions! And thankyou to Barry for setting all this up, the site the blogs and this fantastic opportunity right here!
    *grinz excitedly*
    KC

  • Comment number 41.

Why did george run away from his family and everyone and thing he knows when it only effects him once a month? Wouldn't it be easy to hide it?

  • Comment number 42.

Again i'd like to repeat how much I admire the actors for portraying the characters so well!

Anyway my question for Russell is:
How do you think George would react if he ever bit anyone? Do you think he would talk to the person involved? do you think he'd be able to live with himself?

  • Comment number 43.

    1. Did you like performing the doggy scene with Nina? Arooooooooo! (Just kidding, you don't have to answer that one.) I am curious how actors 'psyche up' for such a scene though, I don't think I'd be able to stop giggling. (But then I'm not an actor.)

    2. when the werewolf was fully formed, was that you in a suit, someone else, puppet or CGI? (It looked like a puppet, epsecially as we never see the back section.)

    3. How much make-up work for the transformation scenes?

    4. Do you have a favourite werewolf film? If so which one(s)?

All the best. Great show. You play an endearing character.

  • Comment number 44.

    Hi Russell!

I'm from the U.S. and I'm a huge fan of The History Boys. I'm so glad this will be shown on Ö÷²¥´óÐã America later this year (I've only seen the original pilot so far).

In the trailer for "Lesbian Vampire Killers" with James Corden, the last line mentions something about being "bummed by a big gay werewolf." Is this a wink and a nod to you or was this entirely coincidental?

May you all become wildly famous over here!

    Patrick Puhl

  • Comment number 45.

Hello Russell!! I'll be asking you the same I asked Aidan!

If your character George was stuck on an island, who would he choose to be stuck with: Annie or Mitchell?

  • Comment number 46.

Being Human is my introduction to all the actors in it. I can think of three obvious traits you and George don't have in common but am curious what you do have, or think you have, in common.

    Cheers.

  • Comment number 47.

Hi again Russell, it's 2:30 am and, I just found out that Being Human has been re-comissined for an eight part series... WOO!!! I'm so happy (and releived lol) I'd like to be the first to congratulate you, Toe-Bee, Lenora, Aidan and the whole BH cast and crew on this, we all can't wait and it's a testement to all of your hard work and dedication, Congratulations and can't wait to see what you do with Georgy-Porgeey in seriess two (*um, Series Two, has a nice ring to it dosen't it?*) Koy xx.

  • Comment number 48.

Wahey! George rules(and I should know I admin the lj and Facebook group for the character)

    My question

What was the most tiresome part of the make up process that you had to endure for the werewolf tranformation?

    To Grygazol:

'In the trailer for "Lesbian Vampire Killers" with James Corden, the last line mentions something about being "bummed by a big gay werewolf."'

I saw that too, got me wondering too XD

  • Comment number 49.

Er, let me just say it was Grygazol who quoted the bit from the ad, I was just commenting on his comment.I did leave suble hints elswhere for people to find that trailer. Feel free to edit if neccesary
*runs away scared and hides under a rock whilst still protesting innocence*

  • Comment number 50.

  • Comment number 54.

    Here's a question for Russell.

Do you really shriek like that in real life? I think that's the most entertaining part of the show :) It was probably the whole reason why the George was turned into a werewolf in the first place (funny prequel sequence comes to mind).

Anyway, hope to see more of Russell in... well, more stuff :) I would've loved to see you as the new doctor. It'd have surely been different.

  • Comment number 55.

    Hi ya Russell!
I would just like to say that i'm a huge fan of George,i think you play him to perfection!
My question is, do you feel that you have put any of ur own characteristics into George's part?
I watched the pilot for the first time last nite, & i think that George is seriously underestimated. I think that he is definately the most dangerous of the characters, something that i'm sure we'll all see in episode 6!
Keep up the good work; You are all brilliant!
By the way; I think a whisk & phone charger are definately the ONLY weapons a super hero needs!

  • Comment number 56.

    Heya!!
I'll just start by saying George rules!!! Now that i've said that i will go on with my question.
Ahem, Russel, if you could change into any animal (excluding a wolf obviously) what would you change into and why?
    Thanks. XD

  • Comment number 57.

Hey there im your biggest fan, i'v seen everything you've been in.

my question is everyone knows your open about being gay so me being a gay guy myself wondered what you looked for in a man? and if you could send me a signed picture?

i know thats two questions but i love ya so much!

keep doing what your doing! your great!

    Harryxxxx

  • Comment number 58.

    Dear Russell.
I can't stop wondering why George didn't feel able to tell his family and especially his fiance his secret? He is such a lovely guy they may of accepted him as he now found himself.
I know in the prequel he had a chance to gain closure with his fiance but I see little similarity with George's character in that and the current series. He seems so much more empathic and introverted now.

I love the warmth and humour you bring to George's character, Russell and I hope your writing is going well? Any luck getting a go of Alan Bennett's desk yet?

  • Comment number 59.

    Hi russell
    Nice arse btw!!
You have had a lot of roles from Dr Who to Little Dorrit.
Is there any role you would like to play and why?
Did i say nice arse btw!!!

  • Comment number 60.

    hi Russell
would you rather be stuck in a spaceship with Dr Who, or stuck in a house in Bristol with Annie and Mitchell??
good luck for the future to all of you, the cast and crew have made "being human" the best thing on telly since "Ashes to Ashes"! and you were in that too!

  • Comment number 61.

  • Comment number 62.

Hi Russel your great at george i just have one question 4 you. Do u Base Your Charicter on Your Selph In The Real World? thanks russel

  • Comment number 63.

    Hiya Russell
You seem to film a lot of scenes naked for being human. What was it like filming them? Did you mind?

  • Comment number 64.

    Hi Russell,

    Really loving Being Human!

    My question is:

If George had the opportunity to not be a werewolf but could only become a vampire or a ghost instead - do you think he would do it?

If yes, which would he choose?

    Georgina x

  • Comment number 65.

    Russell,

You've played a real variety of characters - have any of them influenced you in your portrayal of George in Being Human?

I can't help but notice aspects of Rudge from the History Boys!

Thank you so much, and good luck with The Miracle!!

    Jen x

  • Comment number 66.

hey again sorry about postin another message and everything but a question popped ito my head
do you have any secret talents?
    ...o yea i've got another
i always find when i act the way i act or say things makes people laugh alot making me a comedian more than a drama queen do you get that kind of problem?

    and 1 more
does the cast get the giggles alot while filming and do you think there is any chance of seeing any bloopers?
    well see ya l8ter aligator

  • Comment number 67.

    Hi Russell,

I have loved watching 'being human' and thought you were amazing in it!

I have a question for you which is... What has been the most challenging thing that you have had to do or experienced when working on 'Being Human'?

Also, if you could write your own storyline for your character what would it be?

Thanks and good luck with any new projects and work

    Joanne x x

  • Comment number 68.

Hi Russell, I think you are an amazing actor and very versatile. I know that you will have the next series of being human to do in the near future but wondered what your long term plans were. Do you prefer comedy or drama. I think you have a great future ahead of you

  • Comment number 70.

    Hi Russell!

How long does it take to put on all the makeup and prosthetics for the transformation scenes?

Other than sit there and wait until it's done, how do you pass the time during this process?

What music do you listen to (George obviously loathes Aqua)?

  • Comment number 71.

    Hi Russell,
    Incredable acting you make
George so belivable and lovable, it seems whatever roll you play you master it, well done.

Hey russell, i just thought of another question
I was wondering, do you think there will be, and would you be willing to do, extended werewolf scenes like fights etc. or you running through the woods in series 2? Or maybe more scenes with you in your half transformed state with the yellow eyes and teeth?
    Thanks!!!

  • Comment number 76.

Excellent performance in an excellent show. You seem to have the ability to take your part completely seriously - in a good way - which makes it truly moving. What part of your acting training was most useful to you in achieving this?

I have never seen anyone act like you, you are amazing. I had seen you before in Little Dorrit and I thought the part you played was excellent but playing George was a whole different ball game.I am really looking forward to series 2 and I would love to know if you will be in any other productions in the future. I am known in my family as being a bit hard hearted but you brought out emotions in me I haven't felt in years. Thankyou for touching me with your unique ability. Love Irene

Russell your an amazing and gorgeous actor!
The character of George is so lovable, gentle. (apart from when hes the wolf). Are you like George in any respect? Also should you be a comapnion in the next series of Dr Who if asked?
    Cheers for a fantastic series!
